About US
We are a group of students participating in OeAD's "Alternative Economics and Monetary Systems"
summer programme in Vienna (Austria) in July 2024. We have found it challenging to find non-Western economic practices in European and North American educational systems, so we have created this platform for sharing valuable insights and knowledge about economic practices from non-Western cultures. Our goal is to foster a better understanding of diverse economic perspectives and contribute to a more inclusive economic discourse.

To see this website inspire those disillusioned by the current economic order, by showing that not only is another world possible, but, in some places, it is already here.
OUR METHOD
All the practices enlisted here have been collected through online searches and discussions with fellow students at the summer school. To dig a bit deeper into each of them, we have used a 'systems thinking' approach to analyse the underlying philosophies and shared values that each practice upholds or inculcates. This list is by no means exhaustive and we invite everyone to add on to it. We hope to create and facilitate an open source platform to allow everyone to contribute towards a rich and diverse resource base.
